That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake.
Aynı gün İsa evden çıkıp çıkıp deniz kıyısında oturdu.

Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and in it, while all the people stood on the shore.
Büyük bir topluluk çevresini sardı.

Bu durumda bir tekneye binip oturmak zorunda kaldı. Tüm topluluk ise kıyıda duruyordu.

Then he told them many things in parables, saying:

İsa simgesel öykülerle onlara birçok konuyu anlatarak şunları söyledi:

A farmer went out to sow his seed.

Bir ekinci tohum ekmeye çıktı.

As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.

O ekerken tohumların kimi yolun kenarına düştü, kuşlar inip onları yedi.

Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil.

It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow.

Bazı tohumlar ise kayalıklara düştü. Orada pek toprak olmadığından hemen filizlendi. Çünkü toprağın derinliği yoktu.

But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.

Güneş doğunca kavruldu, kökten yoksun olduğundan kuruyup gitti.

Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants.

Bazıları dikenlerin arasına düştü, dikenler gelişip onları boğdu.

Still ohher seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop - a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.

Bazıları ise verimli toprağa düştü ve ürün getirdi. Bazısı yüz, bazısı altmış, bazısı otuz kat oldu.

He who has ears, let him hear."

Kulağı olan işitsin."

The disiples came to him and asked, "Why do you speak to the people in parables?"

Öğrenciler İsa'ya yaklaşıp, "Neden onlara simgesel öykülerle konuşuyorsun? diye sordu.

He replied, "The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them.

İsa şöyle yanıtladı: "Göklerin hükümranlığına ilişkin gizleri bilebilmek sizlere verilmişti, ama onlara verilmemiştir.

Whoever has will be more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.

Çünkü az malı olan herkese daha da çok verilecek, hem de artırılarak; ama bir şeyi olmayandan elindeki bile alınacaktır.

This is why I speak to them in parables:

Bunun için onlara simgesel öyküler kullanarak konuşuyorum.

Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand."

Çünkü bakıyorlar ama görmüyorlar,

işitiyorlar ama duymuyor ve anlamıyorlar.
